Question Where do I connect a grid tied solar inverter?
OK, let's say we have the solar modules up (2kW), connected to the inverter.. But where do we need to put the inverter? Can the inverter be on the top floor, just plugged into the wall socket and the house's system takes it up? Or the inverter has to connect next to the meter?

Best Answer Do Not plug the inverter into the wall socket. Your inverter must be connected to an AC disconnect and then into the meter. The AC disconnect must be mounted beside the electrical meter. When you register you solar system with the utility you must declare the location of this disconnect. The disconnect allows the utility to switch off power from your inverter when they are doing maintenance. Best Answer The solar inverter has a DC input from the PVs. You should look to see what input range is available at the input of the inverter and make sure the supply from your wind turbine is within the inverters operating range. If it is then the next thing you need to do is add blocking diodes to the output of both the generator and the PVs so that they do not feed into each other. If you need additional help, e-mail me.
